Chuck Ferris (NHCWS)

Wetland Scientist, Ecologist & Environmental Inspector

Chuck Ferris is a Lead Scientist at Flycatcher, where he conducts natural resource assessments across a wide range of habitats and project types. His work includes wetland delineations and function and value assessments; vernal pool surveys; rare, threatened, and endangered species surveys; wildlife habitat and natural community assessments; and assisting clients with the preparation of federal and state permit applications.

He has extensive experience in long term water quality monitoring, vegetation surveys, and construction compliance oversight. He has worked on a variety of natural resource survey efforts, from general reconnaissance-level assessments to qualitative community and species-specific studies. This work has included natural community mapping and analysis for transportation infrastructure, utility corridors, and residential and commercial development projects.

Chuck has also served in environmental emergency response roles, including deployment to a fracking-produced water pipeline spill. He also provided natural resource advisory support during a large interstate oil spill response in the Gulf of Mexico. Earlier in his career, he conducted field and laboratory research on salt marsh communities within the National Park Service’s Northeast Coastal and Barrier Network.
